Does God have a plan for my life?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, “Does my life have meaning?” Or does God have a specific purpose and plan for my life?”

If we are all being honest, we have all probably asked ourselves those questions at least once, and quite frankly, we probably ask ourselves those questions more than we care to admit.

If you have, know that you are not alone and rest assured that those very normal and reasonable questions to ask.

The answer to the questions however, is a resounding YES!!!!

So often we get caught up in the routine and daily grind of our life that seems like all we do is get up, go to work, take care of your kids (if you have any) come home from work, run errands, take care of your kids or yourself and then at the end of the day you find yourself utterly exhausted and wondering where did the day go.

Only to do the same thing the next day, and the next day and well you get the picture.

If you look at life only through those glasses, how could you not think life isn’t anything more than the same old thing over and over again?

I will be honest and tell you that I have fallen victim to that way of thinking quite a few times in my life as well.

But that isn’t the way God wants us to view our life. He knows that we long for more than a mundane life and it seeming like our day to day activities seem like the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray.

Quite frankly the Lord wants us to have more than that as well!!!!

The truth of the matter is that we are more than our job, we are more than just a spouse or significant other or more than just a parent. Way more!!!

But if we are bogged down and thinking that is how our life is defined then that is all we will ever think and that is all that we will ever become.

There is nothing wrong with doing well at your job. There is nothing wrong with being a great spouse, friend or being a great parent.

In fact it pleases God when we do well at those things and we try to serve Him and please Him in those areas of our life.

But yet, again there is so much more that God has designed for us to be and that He desires for our life!!!

Anyone who knows me, know how much I love my children. I love Addison and Carson and love being their Dad, but my role as a Father is not the most important role I play in my life.

I love my Mom and my Dad, but I want to be more than just a good son and my relationship with them is not the most important in my life.

One day I hope to be married again. When God stands with me as I watch my bride walk down the isle, my role as husband will not be the most important part of my life.

That spot is already taken and it is for my role as a Christian. And there is no one in my life that I love more than Jesus. There is no one in my life I want to please more than Jesus. Most importantly, there is no one in my life that I need more than Jesus.

This is something that I have always heard growing up and have said that I wanted to do, but there is something different than saying something and actually doing it and incorporating it in your daily life.

We can all attest to that and I am definitely guilty of talking the talk and unfortunately not walking the walk.

In the last four months of my life, God has shown me that HE has to be first in my life. No one else or nothing else can fill that spot. Since I have realized and seen that with my own eyes, my life isn’t the same.

Quite honestly it can never ever be the same again!!! I know that I don’t want it to be the way it was before!!!

God has shown me that there is so much more to my life and so much more contentment and true peace when I put HIM first above everyone and everything else.

So often in life we get so busy with our kids and family, friends and being on the go that God only gets our leftovers at the end of the day.

I am guilty of that and to be honest if you asked most Christians if they feel like they give God top priority in their life every single day, the answer would be a resounding “No”.

God understands this, but that doesn’t mean that He still doesn’t want to have that Intimate and personal relationship with us that we cherish and put above all else in our life.

Oftentimes something in our lives has to be taken away or we have to broken down before we can see that we aren’t putting God first. It is in those times of change and being rebuilt that we see God and just what He means to us and it is revealed just how important that relationship with Him is.

It is a relationship that can sustain and carry us unlike any other human relationship can. And it is the most important relationship we can ever have.

And there is no more important role that we can play in life, than that of a follower and believer of Christ and being someone that lives for Him no matter how busy and routine our life might seem.

That relationship with Jesus gives our life more meaning than we could ever imagine!!!
